Delhi Capitals to retain skipper Rishabh Pant for Rs 16 crore Rishabh Pant took over the team’s captaincy last season when Shreyas Iyer was injured. The team that reached the playoffs was eliminated without seeing the final. It is reported that Delhi has also decided to auction former skipper Shreyas Iyer while Rishabh keeps the ball.

Shreyas wanted to continue as captain of the team. But the team management wants Rishabh to pass the ball on. Delhi have reached the play-offs in the last two seasons of the IPL. In the 2020 season, Shreyas Iyer led the team to the finals.

Delhi has decided to keep the young opener Prithviraj Shah and the weirdo and all-rounder Akshar Patel. In addition to them, the South African pacemaker Antri Nokia will also be on the team. Many had hoped that the team would keep Kagiso Rabada among the foreign players, but it didn’t.

With the decision to focus on youth, senior batsman Shikhar Dhawan and spinner R Ashwin were also dropped. Avesh Khan, the second highest ranking wicket taker last season, is likely to face trial at the Delhi auction.

Shreyas Iyer, who made his testing debut, wants to lead another team in the IPL. Many of the current eight teams are looking for a captain. The captains of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, KKR, RCB and Punjab Kings are subject to change. RCB captain Virat Kohli resigned last season.
