India lost there, Sehwag openly; That decision was tragic !!

Highlights:

  • It wasn’t right to make Ishan Kishan the opener
  • Rohit and Rahul should have come down
  • The Indian batting team has collapsed

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has criticized Ishant Kishan for opening the crucial game of the T20 World Cup. India’s experiment was unnecessarily costly, according to Sehwag. India’s semi-final hopes are almost over after losing to New Zealand by 8 wickets. If India is to beat Pakistan and New Zealand in the semi-finals, miracles will have to happen.

“Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are India’s regulars. Replacing them was not the right decision. That put them under pressure from the start. Ishant Kishan is a budding player. He could have been played in any position,” said Sehwag on the Bus.

Sehwag said a similar mistake was made at the 2007 World Cup. Sehwag and Robin Uthappa replaced Tendulkar and Ganguly as openers. They had to play in every position. Sehwag said he felt that Ganguly and Tendulkar should continue as they are regular opening players.

In the T20s, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been opening for India for several years. However, voters had left out Dhawan, who was in good shape. Skipper Kohli had previously said that wicketkeeper batsman Ishant Kishan could also play the role of the opener.

India has to do without the middle-class batsman Suryakumar Yadav against New Zealand. Surya had to be excluded due to injury. Kohli had made it clear during the throw that Kishan would step down as the opener. Rohit and Kishan should be the openers. But unexpectedly, Rahul and Kishan came into play as the opener. The Indian batting team lost their sense of direction with this single change. The Indian innings ended with just 110 runs.

Kohli has matured into an unnecessary experimenter in a match where he is likely to be eliminated without seeing the semifinals if he loses. In the third round of the game, India lost Ishant Kishan’s wicket from Bolt. Kishan was fired for 4 out of 8 balls. What was supposed to be a good start was out of place. This is Kishan’s first game in the T20 World Cup.

The team made two changes to the game. India have dismissed midfielder Suryakumar Yadav due to injury. Ishan Kishan was named as his successor. India have replaced pacemaker Bhuvneshwar Kumar with Shardul Thakur, who played against Pakistan in weak form. But India, playing with no clear plan, seemed to be losing to the Kiwis.
