Lightning strikes Shardul, South Africa; Indian return to Johannesburg

India’s best comeback in the second Test against South Africa when Shardul Thakur transformed into a lightning bolt. Shardul took seven wickets to lead India to 229 in their first innings. Previously, India had scored 202 points in their first innings. The hosts were slightly ahead of 27 runs but it was a great achievement for India to reduce them to a small score.

South Africa resumed batting on day two at 35/1 but lost the second wicket when they hit 88 on the scoreboard. Shardul Thakur defeated Dean Elgar for 28 to give India the breakthrough. Shortly afterwards, Thakur Keegan Peterson, who was standing firmly by the fold, sent to the pavilion. Peterson scored 62 when South Africa went 101/3 /. As soon as Wanderer Dozen arrived, Thakur sent him back. With that South Africa collapsed and lost wickets at regular intervals. Thakur ended the South African innings by taking Lungi Ngidi’s wicket when he hit 229 on the scoreboard. The best batsman of his career Thakur took seven wickets for 61 runs.
