Modi government asked states to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel

New Delhi: The government has given huge relief to the people in the prices of petrol and diesel during the festivals. According to the central government, a plan has been made to reduce the excise duty and give relief to the people in the price of petrol and diesel. According to the central government, excise duty is being reduced by Rs 5 on petrol and Rs 10 on diesel. People already struggling with inflation are hoping for some relief from this news.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has supported the Modi government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel. He tweeted, ‘I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel. This is a big relief for the fuel users. It is also like a gift for our farmers before the Ravi season of cultivation. Now the state governments should also try to help the people by reducing the rates of VAT on fuel on festivals.

Excise duty on petrol and diesel will be reduced by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively from Thursday. Farming season is approaching for the farmers and in view of the use of diesel, the government has decided to reduce the excise duty on diesel by Rs 10 crore to give relief to the farmers. VAT on petrol and diesel can be reduced in many states after the request of the central government.

Farmers say that the price of diesel has increased by Rs 27 per liter in the last 11 months. As a result, agriculture and irrigation were expected to be more expensive this year. Till Tuesday, the price of petrol had increased by 35-35 paise for 7 consecutive days and the price of diesel for 6 consecutive days. In terms of petrol prices, it has gone up to Rs 8.85 per liter in just 28 days.

VAT on petrol and diesel is levied by the state governments. If it is reduced, then the prices of petrol and diesel in different states will be reduced accordingly. The price of petrol and diesel has increased by more than Rs 100 per liter in almost every state of the country.
