For the first time in the history of Indian Railways, passengers will experience a new boarding facility after reaching Mumbai Central. The Pod Hotel was first developed in Japan. The Pod Hotel offers affordable and overnight accommodations for guests who don’t need expensive hotels or don’t want to spend much.
How much charge and what features?
According to a senior Western Railway official, the hotel will charge Rs 999 per person for 12 hours and Rs 1,999 per person for 24 hours. Each port room will have free WiFi in the common area, luggage room, toiletries, shower room, washroom. Inside the pod, guests can avail amenities like TV, small locker, mirror, adjustable air conditioner and air filter vent, reading light. There is also interior light, mobile charging, smoke detector, DND indicator.
The pod hotel facility at Mumbai Central Railway Station provides a total of 48 pod inventory pods. There are 3 categories of pods, namely Classic Pod, Single Pod for Women, Private Pod and also differently-abled. It also includes 4 family pods that can accommodate a family of 4 members. The pod facility is located on the first floor of the station building at Mumbai Central Railway Station and is spread over an area of about 3000 sq. ft. with a mezzanine floor.
