T20 WC: Australia’s thrilling win over South Africa

The Australian cricket team has made a great start in the T20 World Cup. The Kangaroos, led by Aaron Finch, registered a thrilling five-wicket win over South Africa in their opening match. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the performance of the South African team led by Temba Bavuma was disappointing.

South Africa scored 118 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Australia also had to struggle in response. However, in the end he managed to register a victory. Australia won the match by 121 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.4 overs.

Australia got off to a poor start in reply to the target of 119 runs. Captain Aaron Finch was out for four. Finch could not even open the account. Although later the pair of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh tried to handle the match but the pair did not last long.

Warner got out for 20. He scored 14 runs in 15 balls. When Mitchell Marsh scored 11 runs, the pavilion was deposited. Later Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis played useful innings and led the team to victory. Smith scored 35 runs in 34 balls. Which included three fours.

Maxwell contributed 18 runs but his batting was too slow. He played 21 balls and hit a four. Stoinis scored an unbeaten 24 off 16 balls with the help of three fours and played a key role in the team’s victory. Apart from this, Matthew Wade contributed 15 not out. Enrique Nortje took two early wickets for South Africa. While Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamshi got one success each.

Earlier, South Africa’s batting had been disappointing. His top three wickets went for 23 runs. Captain opener Bavuma was dismissed for 12, Quinton DeKock for 7 and van der Dussen for two. Later Markram, Klaasen and David Miller played important innings. Markram was the top scorer with 40 runs. He hit three fours and a six in 36 balls.

Klaasen scored 13 and Miller made 16. Apart from this, Kagiso Rabada made an important contribution of 19 runs. With the help of which South Africa managed to reach a respectable score. For Australia, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa took two wickets each, while Maxwell and Cummins got success one after the other.
