Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets in T20 match played at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah. Bangladesh scored 171 for 4 in 20 overs before batting. In reply, Sri Lanka made 172 for five in 18.5 overs, chasing the target of 172 runs. Charit Aslanka became the man of the match after scoring 80 runs.

Sri Lanka have won their first match after reaching the Super 12 in the T20 World Cup. Naeem and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 62 and 57 runs for Bangladesh respectively. Karunaratne, Fernando, Lahiru Kumara took one wicket each for Sri Lanka. For Sri Lanka, Tarith Aslanka played an unbeaten innings of 80 runs in 49 balls and chased down the target of 172 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 53 runs in 31 balls as Sri Lanka registered a five-wicket win with seven balls to spare. Nasum Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each for Bangladesh.
