Two superstars in tests? Rohit is appointed vice-captain, selectors from both !!

Indian cricket is on the path of change. The team suffered a major setback with their defeat at the T20 World Championship. India has not won an ICC title since 2013. Virat Kohli resigns as India’s T20 captain Rohit Sharma is the new captain. There are reports that Kohli may change his mind on ODIs as well. Meanwhile, there are signs that India’s leadership in the tests may change.

Can be vice-captain in tests

The selectors ordered both of them to exclude those who did poorly. When Rahul Dravid becomes a coach, there will be more opportunities for new players to join the team. Despite the lack of talent, there may be changes in the way older players are kept. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who haven’t played consistently in midfield, are likely to be dropped from the test team soon.

Threat to Rahane’s vice-captain

The selectors often have to keep Rahane on the team as vice-captain despite his poor form. But the test series against New Zealand could be Rahane’s last chance. Rohit Sharma could also be the vice-captain under Virat Kohli in tests. After Rohit Sharma has taken on the role of the opener, he plays in tests in explosive form.

New experiments in the midfield

New experiments are now taking place in the Indian midfield. For Cheteshwar Pujara and Rahane, the series against New Zealand is crucial. Shubhman could play Gill in midfield. Gill lost his place on the team when KL Rahul started. Mayank Agarwal and Hanuma Vihari are also expected to appear in the middle row.
