- NUUP or *99# service was launched by NPCI in November 2012
- Easiest way to transact even without internet connection
- Before starting the process, it is advised to download the BHIM app and do a one-time registration
However, net banking has been available for a long time and now UPI (Unified Payment Interface) has made this service even easier than a single window. But an active internet connection is required to make or receive payments through UPI. The biggest question is what to do if your internet data runs out. At such times NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) can be used for instant payment.
There is no need to be worried about it. NUUP or *99# service was introduced by NPCI in November 2012. Initially the service was limited and only 2 companies were providing this service. But then it was authorized in such a way that UPI transactions can be done even without internet connection. Which can be done in a very simple way.
It is advised to download the BHIM app before starting the process. In which offline UPI transactions can be done after one-time registration.
First of all open dial pad on your phone and type *99#. As soon as you navigate to the new menu, you will see seven options, which include Send Money, Receive Money, Check Balance, My Profile, Pending Request, Transaction and UPI PIN. Press the number 1 on the dial pad to send money. Money can be sent to you using your registered number, UPI ID or bank account number or IFSC code.
If you select the UPI ID option, the receiver has to register the UPI ID as well. In the next step, type the transfer amount and enter your UPI PIN.
After doing this, press the send option and after the completion of the transaction, you will also get the information of the transaction. The system will also ask the recipient to be included in the beneficiary after this process, with a fee of 0.50 paise.
